Desaru 2D1N Jigging and Night Stay at Pelangi Balau Resort
Just to share a short CR that happened a few weeks back. We were supposed to be having 2 solid days of day jigging and a good night's rest at Pelangi Balau Resort but due to a minor car accident while driving to the beach, we had to get our car fixed and we could not go out fishing for the day. So it was back to our resort after Captain Badol touched up the car with a little bit of marine glue. The resort was reasonably good as we paid around $200 SGD for 4 of us for a villa. It came with a simple breakfast too!

We could finally fish on the second day and we were raring to go!

First stop was at the unjam or FAD (Fish Attracting Device) to see if we could tempt some spanish mackeral aka batang... but they were holding too deep and our jigs couldn't get to them. We had a few bust offs when baiting though! I only managed to get a Chencaru on jig here...
Anyway, we packed up and made the boat trip to TU Lighthouse where there were boiling and feeding frenzy all around us!
I had a good fish hit my storm chug bug popper thrice but fail to get it cleanly! Sadly to say, the frenzy died down when they heard the boat approach.... but we still managed to get some Queenfish! The Queenfish were hitting Jamie's Ima Gune fast and hard.
Halfway through, Shawn got a big take on the drop and began his fight with his first Cobia ever on jig even! Way to go bro... Finally some good fish for you this year! Weighed up 22lbs on the Boga grip... a good sized one.

It was late after Shawn's fish and we head back... I'll be raring to have a go at TU again! Looks like the fish are returning! On driving out, we helped some Singapore friends get their car out of the mud! They were there for some wind surfing or boarding and got their car stuck! Wouldn't wanna be them!

What is the difference between the Kurau (Indian Threadfin) and Senangin (Blue Threadfin Salmon)?

This post aims to enable you to know the difference. Name and Terminology Kurau is known as Indian Giant Threadfin salmon/Kurau/黑午鱼/Orh Ngor Senangin is known as Blue Threadfin salmon/Senangin/白午鱼/Pek Ngor/Ngor Soon Eating Quality Kurau is known the more premium species and is a popular fish for maternity purposes as it is believed to boost milk supply for new mothers. It is rare and big sized fish are hard to come by these days. Generally costs more than Senangin. Senangin is less premium and is readily available in the market in various sizes. This new pond has replaced the former Gills Fishing. I guess this is good news as there is so little fishing ponds left in Singapore now. Marina South Singapore Fishing Spot (Eging and Shore Jigging Recce)
Marina South has always been a favourite fishing spot in Singapore. In the past, we would go settle our dinner at the Marina South buffet steamboat and then head off to the water breakers to crank deep diver lures. In fact, I remember a memory of having my popper being taxed from me one of those times we went luring there! Another fairly famous fishing spot were the freshwater ponds just next to the saltwater side. Quite a fair bit of haruan (snakehead) and tarpon in there! Ok back to the topic.
