As this was a largely trolling trip, we trolled some breakers off punggol and changi and were rewarded by some decent sized gaos. It was quite a productive time as we landed a few pieces in a short span of time. Not bad at all. The lure that scored the gaos was the Reef Runner 700 series Rip Stick. One of my favourite all time trolling lures.
Of course, being the flamboyant beef lovers that we were, we couldn't resist bringing the lotus grill on-board the boat and having a good meal of steak, sausages and whipped potato. And yeah, while we cooked the steak, some groupers and barramundis decided to visit. We chided Jimmy for not telling us earlier that this was possible.

Simple Offshore Fishing Rig (Can be done in 60 seconds or less!)
I have a simple offshore fishing rig to share that I use widely in my offshore fishing. it is very simple to tie and I usually can tie it under 20 seconds. It is especially useful if you need to tie multiple rigs for your friends or family. It is also tested and proven for a wide variety of fishes in Changi or Southern waters... You can vary the length of your snood depending on whether you are anchoring or drifting but usually, I'd suggest a general snood length of 30 - 50cm as you can use it for all situations. This rig is very dependable as it does not use any knots to join any snoods together. The whole rig is based on a "one line" one piece concept so it's a really tough cookie! The only weakness so far is that the bottom (sinker) loop may be damaged over time if you keep getting snagged. Also, if big fish takes the rig, the loop might close up and you may have a very ugly rig! Limitations of this rig also is that is a bottom feeder rig... but that's us...

Name and Terminology Kurau is known as Indian Giant Threadfin salmon/Kurau/黑午鱼/Orh Ngor Senangin is known as Blue Threadfin salmon/Senangin/白午鱼/Pek Ngor/Ngor Soon Eating Quality Kurau is known the more premium species and is a popular fish for maternity purposes as it is believed to boost milk supply for new mothers. Foreword and Disclaimer My first encounter with prawning dated back to 2002. Back then, I hooked up my first prawn near the prawning ponds beside the Downtown East chalets at Pasir Ris. Back then, it was something like beginner's luck but after prawning for awhile, you'll realise that you will need skill as well as luck to have a good prawning catch.
