Hoooooooohooooooooooo! I'm finally back guys! Not a bad trip for me as i managed to test my tackle to the max! So far, its a TP trip in which i got quite a fair bit of action although i didnt really try jigging as i was sleeping during the day time.
We had our lunch at TP at Ah Khiang's restaurant and i ate some delicious hei po... It was damn siok siok.
The last trip with Ah Khiang was with Wisata Bahari I but this time we are taking his no.5... Its an even bigger boat and there is lots of space for us to fish... Ah Khiang is to be our captain but he has gone to SG Hospital for some treatment because he got an illness so no choice we had his Nephew Ronald with us. There is a malay captain, a young newbie deckie, an old bochap deckie and an old cook with us.
Night I
We travel for quite awhile to the first spot and en route, we tried trolling but no takes so too bad... Around 8pm we reach the first spot and i started jigging for my squid. And now come the story of the newbie deckie... he dont even know to net squid... Everytime the squid will escape. I probably jigged more squid than he netted... Anyway, the arrowhead squid are not in season. Most of the squid are what i call "tooth pick" squid because of its very long body and very small head.
These squids are very picky and do not respond to excessive stroking. Instead, i got them to eat my jig when i merely station my jig below the water not moving it at all... Small jigs will work better. So take note momok. Kekeke...
There was quite alot of action at the back... One of the kaki Kelvin had a take once he hit the bottom. It was a giant ray and took him all over the boat but no sweat around 30minutes the ray came up. It was quite a huge ray and it was damn fat lor... Estimated at 30kg... Blank used was calstar 20-40 with Accurate.
They were landing fishes at the back while i was still at the front jigging for squid. The deckie isnt netting any squid at all. We might not have enough for the night.
Anyway, i got itchy so i went behind to drop my lines and once hit the bottom... Wow i had a take and fish on!!! Kekeke... But quite the no fight and the fish was up in like 3mins... Suprised when it was a 7kg Cobia... After the cobia i went back to the front as it was quite crowded behind. Park my rod and fish for squid... Very soon, Discmen came to join me and Terence and he drop his lines between both our rods... Damn kelong and very soon, the boat was hit with 3 big bites... 2 of the bites had line burst but discmen was fighting his fish up...
The fish came up and all of us were shocked when it was a big ang kuey... a 3kg plus one... Then we realise that the two bites that line burst was also ang kuey... and that the school had run off liao... haiz sad sad.
Anyway, the whole night was fill with big Kim Chu Seng and i landed quite a few of them. The Kim Chu Seng is damn strong and even more stronger than any fish i would say. It totally gave my Gusa 30-50 a good workout. That's all for the night and i went to sleep already.
Day II
Next morning i woke up and wanted to do some jigging but end up i did a little bit of bottom fishing and brought up 3 leather jacket around 1kg on light tackle. Ah Don managed to bring some up too. After that we were hit by the long nose emperor school... But after that damn lazy and i went back to sleep... and woke up at night.
Night II
The second night there was no current as well... our hopes were not high but we landed some rays. The second night was where i tested my rod again and i broke Rogers 5min record. I had a total of 2 hookup of ray... One around 15kg and another one 20kg plus... But i lost one of them because the ass clown deckie cannot gaff it up properly. Miss 3 times can you believe it?
Anyway, we landed alot more ray before the boat ROCK LIKE MAD LIKE BANANA BOAT. The wind was damn strong lor... I standing there... i can feel it and it can actually push me. I so fat liao...
Oh ya ah don had fought up a big ray but we lost it due to ass clown deckie. The ray was 40kg plus and he tried to lift it up so the ray flip and flip lor... flip until it jump back into the water and the line burst. 40kg plus marble ray down the water...sad. 2 rays lost because of deckie. haiz.
Oh ya talking about ass clown deckie, we also lost one tengiri because of that ass clown... the tengiri was taken on sotong strip can u believe it? LOL.
But during this strong wind, Ah Don was still hardworking and hook up a live coral fish that was in the live bait well... WOW very soon he was rewarded with a nice MJ. Wow very lau nua leh...but by this time i had kept my tackle. After the fish everyone went to sleep liao... No point fishing in this wind.
Then the ass thing happen because when we woke up all our fish has been potong liao and packed and i do not have a chance to take total catch pic... Haiz... sad sad. But its ok. We had our lucky draw and got our fish. After that we went for indo massage and lunch... and its the first time i tried steam mantis prawn... Wow. Siok SIOK!

Basic Introduction to Prawning: Simple Tips & Tricks
Foreword and Disclaimer My first encounter with prawning dated back to 2002. Back then, I hooked up my first prawn near the prawning ponds beside the Downtown East chalets at Pasir Ris. Back then, it was something like beginner's luck but after prawning for awhile, you'll realise that you will need skill as well as luck to have a good prawning catch. Through hard work and observation, I improved my prawning strategies and tactics and after some sessions of almost 70-80% hookup rate, I somewhat graduated from newbie stage to amateur stage. I would like to share with you guys some very basic prawning tips and trip. But a fair warning though. Prawning is addictive and it can only get worst once you get more prawns. When you are a newbie, you want to hook your first prawn...you want to get your first 10pcs... when you graduate you want to hit 30 in an hour...next is 50 in an hour... This post has since been updated and refreshed as of 25 March 2017. Prawning Equipmen
What is the difference between the Kurau (Indian Threadfin) and Senangin (Blue Threadfin Salmon)?
This post is meant as a supplement to this Batu Pahat catch report . Information and pictures taken from #fishidlessonsbydavidho. Did you know that the Kurau and Senangin are totally different? This post aims to enable you to know the difference. Name and Terminology Kurau is known as Indian Giant Threadfin salmon/Kurau/黑午鱼/Orh Ngor Senangin is known as Blue Threadfin salmon/Senangin/白午鱼/Pek Ngor/Ngor Soon Eating Quality Kurau is known the more premium species and is a popular fish for maternity purposes as it is believed to boost milk supply for new mothers. It is rare and big sized fish are hard to come by these days. Generally costs more than Senangin. Senangin is less premium and is readily available in the market in various sizes. I have also seen that farming for it can be quite successful. Size Differences If you do a Google search, you will realise that both can grow quite big. However, this is not a good comparison as geographically, there are differences in s

Marina South Singapore Fishing Spot (Eging and Shore Jigging Recce)
Marina South has always been a favourite fishing spot in Singapore. In the past, we would go settle our dinner at the Marina South buffet steamboat and then head off to the water breakers to crank deep diver lures. In fact, I remember a memory of having my popper being taxed from me one of those times we went luring there! Another fairly famous fishing spot were the freshwater ponds just next to the saltwater side. Quite a fair bit of haruan (snakehead) and tarpon in there! Ok back to the topic. I finally had time to go for a full recce of the Marina South fishing areas. It's quite amazing that there are no restrictions for fishing almost the entire Marina South coast and it makes shore casting, eging, ajing and microjigging so much more fun. We explored three spots today and I think we sort of regretted not bringing some bait... Below are some of the areas with Google map pins and what I think of the spots. Fishing at D'Best Fishing (also known as Pasir Ris Main Pond or PRMP) with Rubber Lures (Luring)
Black Proberos soft rubber. Maybe I should buy in bulk, rebrand it and sell at 4x the cost. Maybe I'll call it sticky lake rubber. @baktao Went for a short trip at D'Best Pasir Ris Main fishing pond. #fishing #sgfishin #luring #singapore ♬ Oh no, oh no, oh no, no no - Hip Hop 15 years ago, fishing here was free I was 15 years old when I first fished at Pasir Ris Fishing Pond (back then it was just called as such) at Pasir Ris Town Park. I went there with a few of my secondary school friends and we caught dozens of huge tilapia. It was when there was no operator at the pond and you could simply fish for free. There were also a few pieces of the odd leftover fish and I remember catching a mangrove jack on bread. Introduction to D'Best Fishing Now after years of being run by different fishing pond operators, the pond now goes by the name of D'Best Fishing by D'Best Recreation. Old timers to the pond just simply remember it as Pasir Ris Main Pond (PRMP) for t
