Had a great reunion with some old friends... It was a trip filled with laughter and it was a first for some of the kakis onboard. Old jokes and old stories made up the trip.
Our hopes were very low due to the Saturday downpour before we boarded the boat but suprise suprise... we managed to get some good fish although we had only 15 pcs small live sotong when catching sotong up to 12 midnite... We had to conserve our squid by digging out the eaten squid out of the fish mouth. One particular tiny squid caught 4 Ang Cho!!!
Beginners luck was the story of the game. Two of our lucky kakis managed to pull up grouper and ang cho although they are first time on abang boat. On one occasion, the handle came loose on the reel! And on another one we had a case of a spool almost dropping out and that was when the nice sized grouper took the bait and we had to retrieve the fish using handline method with braided line hehehe...
Also burst off some very big ang cho which took out line and cut the leader on the reef... unstoppable!
Many thanks to Abang for this wonderful trip which was a good experience for us. Nobody went home without fishes today :)

What is the difference between the Kurau (Indian Threadfin) and Senangin (Blue Threadfin Salmon)?

This new pond has replaced the former Gills Fishing. I guess this is good news as there is so little fishing ponds left in Singapore now. Marina South Singapore Fishing Spot (Eging and Shore Jigging Recce)
Marina South has always been a favourite fishing spot in Singapore. In the past, we would go settle our dinner at the Marina South buffet steamboat and then head off to the water breakers to crank deep diver lures. In fact, I remember a memory of having my popper being taxed from me one of those times we went luring there! Another fairly famous fishing spot were the freshwater ponds just next to the saltwater side. Quite a fair bit of haruan (snakehead) and tarpon in there! Ok back to the topic. I finally had time to go for a full recce of the Marina South fishing areas. It's quite amazing that there are no restrictions for fishing almost the entire Marina South coast and it makes shore casting, eging, ajing and microjigging so much more fun.
