Ah Chong's Boat
Berry funny build up to the trip...Why leh? Due to sad sad roger who cant go TP. The build up to the trip was funny as AC can't go for the trip and he had to opt out.
Then a few days before the trip, roger couldnt go TP with the guys as his leave was cancelled! Therefore...AC took his place! FUnny thing is that roger came with us
instead! Too itchy so bo bian... Also managed to poison another new kaki mondo to come and get poisoned together. Hehehe...
On first look, current should be very slack and easy going but strong winds today blowing up the water making it very murky but the sun was shining strongly and when we all let down our sinkers... Eh... Size 3 or 4 can liao..Hmmm... Seems like the wind is in our favour and pushing against the boat... If the wind was from the other side, sure layang liao lor...
Boatman was first to up the first and second fish... A small AC and small Guhoot. By now we were shouting KELONG! Then Weiyee's reel went ZZzzZzt and boatman thought it might be a threadfin as two threadfins landed the day before. In fact morning was threadfin hunting...Hehehe...But up came a decent sized Chermin with an even more suprised but still happy Weiyee.
Next up to get something was... (i cant remember). But after that the bite rate was pretty slow and i missed a good sized guhoot when i was dozing off... And so everyone recharge their batteries and were wondering when the fish went... When suddenly...
Then roger's turn to get a guhoot...That roger still can say this fish cannot pull my line one! Wah after that everyone auto mode liao suddenly wake up... But...nothing leh??!?!?!?!. Then come to drift over spot X and hmmm...somehow i put down a big prawn in search of mr gao...and wow goalkeeper gao over spot X...a decent 1kg...
Although quite a stale fight(gao heur lah..u know lah...living sinker) but still contented and very happy. Necro also managed to get an ang chor up and hopes were very high ah...
We went over to drift at SPOT X again... It was either SANGOAT or fish...as the coral outcrops there were many many ah! Then i heard a shout from the back...
So off we go drift over spot X again..and wahlao eh..almost instantly Cueball rod bending and we thought...hey hey its another Gao.. but after a long fight...and..Oh my its a big Ang Chor up! At 4lbs... Wahlao eh...sibe envious...got quality..got fight...wahlao...
After that we tried drifting over Spot X again but no more kang tao liao... Fish all go back sleep. Xris managed to land a Ang Chor at the end though... but ya...
FULL TIME SCORE IS...

Basic Introduction to Prawning: Simple Tips & Tricks
Foreword and Disclaimer My first encounter with prawning dated back to 2002. Back then, I hooked up my first prawn near the prawning ponds beside the Downtown East chalets at Pasir Ris. Back then, it was something like beginner's luck but after prawning for awhile, you'll realise that you will need skill as well as luck to have a good prawning catch. Through hard work and observation, I improved my prawning strategies and tactics and after some sessions of almost 70-80% hookup rate, I somewhat graduated from newbie stage to amateur stage. I would like to share with you guys some very basic prawning tips and trip. But a fair warning though. Prawning is addictive and it can only get worst once you get more prawns. When you are a newbie, you want to hook your first prawn...you want to get your first 10pcs... when you graduate you want to hit 30 in an hour...next is 50 in an hour... This post has since been updated and refreshed as of 25 March 2017. Prawning Equipmen
New Prawning Pond in Singapore for 2024: Olden Days Prawning
In case you all don't know yet, a new prawning pond has opened at 10 Neo Tiew Lane 2! Called Olden Days Prawning, the prawning pond is opened daily and 24 hours. What was the most surprising for me is their current price for prawning. They are doing it at 1 hour - $9.99, 2 hours - $15.99 and 3 hours - $19.99. Quite a good deal as these are way below prawning pond rates. The location isn't new and used to be operated by Ah Hua Fishing and Prawning . What is the difference between the Kurau (Indian Threadfin) and Senangin (Blue Threadfin Salmon)?
This post is meant as a supplement to this Batu Pahat catch report . Information and pictures taken from #fishidlessonsbydavidho. Did you know that the Kurau and Senangin are totally different? This post aims to enable you to know the difference. Name and Terminology Kurau is known as Indian Giant Threadfin salmon/Kurau/黑午鱼/Orh Ngor Senangin is known as Blue Threadfin salmon/Senangin/白午鱼/Pek Ngor/Ngor Soon Eating Quality Kurau is known the more premium species and is a popular fish for maternity purposes as it is believed to boost milk supply for new mothers. It is rare and big sized fish are hard to come by these days. Generally costs more than Senangin. Senangin is less premium and is readily available in the market in various sizes. I have also seen that farming for it can be quite successful. Size Differences If you do a Google search, you will realise that both can grow quite big. However, this is not a good comparison as geographically, there are differences in s

Marina South Singapore Fishing Spot (Eging and Shore Jigging Recce)
Marina South has always been a favourite fishing spot in Singapore. In the past, we would go settle our dinner at the Marina South buffet steamboat and then head off to the water breakers to crank deep diver lures. In fact, I remember a memory of having my popper being taxed from me one of those times we went luring there! Another fairly famous fishing spot were the freshwater ponds just next to the saltwater side. Quite a fair bit of haruan (snakehead) and tarpon in there! Ok back to the topic. I finally had time to go for a full recce of the Marina South fishing areas. It's quite amazing that there are no restrictions for fishing almost the entire Marina South coast and it makes shore casting, eging, ajing and microjigging so much more fun. We explored three spots today and I think we sort of regretted not bringing some bait... Below are some of the areas with Google map pins and what I think of the spots. Extra Large Flower Crabs from NTUC (Simple Steam Recipe)
I just gotta have my big flower crabs because I simply miss the fresh sweet taste... Ever since I stop doing crabbing in Singapore because of lack of good crabbing spots, I turned to NTUC... Luckily, Bukit Panjang Plaza NTUC sometimes has surprises during the flower crab season and this time I chanced upon some very large male and female flower crabs on sale at $12/kg. These were not live and were covered with shaved ice... but no matter because they were fairly fresh (for flower crabs standards) and they were super meaty at an average of 800g a crab! Extra large sizes! The females were huge too! I bought about 10 big crabs and went home to prepare simple ingredients for a quick steam. Since these crabs are already dead and chilled, quickly cook them as soon as possible... If you are not planning to cook them today, simply chuck them in the freezer. I clean crabs myself so I had no trouble preparing them for the steam! If you do not know how to clean crabs... here's how
