Here's a little post about some Inflatable boat fishing with Shawn's Kairos and Kiat yet again with his Hobie... As usual, we set off from our usual grounds early with our usual routine being Yishun's Sincere Tackle Live prawns being our first stop in the morning. Sincere Tackle is a great convenient tackle store if you're looking to stock up on accessories or baits early in the morning! The fact that they open at 6am on weekends is a great convenience for kayak or self boat fishing kakis like myself. An early day! Was this our secret spot? Anyway, it was now proven from a few outings that Chermins respond to the downgoing tides extremely well and during incoming tides, it was the grunter or guhood that was more prominent. That was the case today as I had a good grunter in the morning drifting the drop offs. A good sized grunter! Tide settled and kiat got a stargazer aka kuku fish!  As the tide slowly settled, the sites stopped too and we continued working...

Dear all, Apologies I haven't been blogging often this few weeks on my fishing trips. I have been on vacation these two weeks. Well this post is just to inform my readers that I will be sharing about lifestyle and travel on my blog in the future. For example, blogging about my recent Bangkok trip. These latest Changi offshore fishing reports are already a month old but I'd still thought I'd share them on my blog. Fishing Changi and Pulau Tekong in December used to be an exciting affair when the Chermin spot was still not reclaimed by sand. Regular fishing kakis will book spring tides in which the Chermins were notorious for turning up always. Sadly, after land reclaimation by the Government, the Chermins have since dispersed loosely and god knows where they now hang out. If only they were still around and I could be jigging for them with micro and madai jigs instead of using live prawns... Oh well, catcheswere still fairly consistent with the evergreen Ah Chong and my family had a ball of a time bringing up fishes. We were fishing the spring tide and Ah Chong brought us to a number of shallow hide outs between 2 meters to 5 meters near the current Pulau Tekong reclamaton works... yes... they are going to reclaim that as well. It seems that next time Changi will just ...

Over the festive Christmas and New Year period, I introduced some friends to prawn fishing over at Haibin Bishan (Address Details can be found on the link). Haibin Bishan is one the better places to try your luck at prawn fishing because of the crowd and longetivity of this prawn fishing joint. The fact that so many people do their prawning there means that the management will always release prawns so it's up to the individual to be skillfull enough to catch the prawns! I've heard lots of complaints about people not catching prawns there but I firmly believe one should first learn the basics and tips  of prawning before complaining! After parking our cars (it's free parking at Haibin Bishan btw), we made our way to the prawning area and some of my friends were suprised at how clean and "hip" the place was. There was a beer garden, zhi char seafood stall and even the fish spa thing. Frankly speaking, till this day I couldn't determine what's the diffe...

One of the lonely weekends, the gang of 3 kakis took to the water again. With our odd combination of Kiat in his Hobie i9S and Boatman Shawn's Kairos Kaboat, we once again proved that finding good fish while kayak fshing in Singapore is definitely possible. With Kayak fishing, fishing spots are unlimited and you do not need a fishing charter or paypond to plan your fishing trip. We launched from Sembawang Park again which is a popular launching area now due to the beach being very close to the parking area. There is even some stairs down to the beach which solo kayakers can make use of. kiat and Hobie i9s fully rigged with mirage drive and hobie life jacket Shawn with his customized rod holder and kaboat Kiat impressed all the newbie kayakers taking their one star kayak course at sembawang again with his Hobie mirage drive which uses leg power! I think by now all the surfcasters fishing at the beach are so used to seeing kayakers launch from sembawang beach that...

After a harrowing experience at Pekan in which I fell sick for 2 weeks, I stopped fishing for nearly a month to focus on studies and work. It was a move which paid back as I managed to snag a rare fish during a quickie freshwater trip today. Weiyee and me bashed in around 3pm only to reach the spot at around 345pm as the dark clouds started homing in on us. I took out my all terrain umbrella and poncho to wait out the storm. Weiyee and me looked at each other with blank faces but I constantly assured him once the rain was gone, action would commence! This area held a good number of Peacock Bass and Toman but from the surface action and ripples, it looked that most of the Toman are gone. We found out the reason later as multiple baited hooks were set and tied to a rope along the grass shore line. It was so disgusting... Anyway, I didn't have much freshwater lures left as I was focusing on Saltwater Fishing this year..... I clipped on a Duel Hardcore 110s 38g and started crank...

It was old tradition to have an end of the season Sailfish trip at Pekan and this year was no different except that we went for the GTs (Giant Trevally) and Coral Trouts! We had a few groups of friends going up this trip but instead of more fun, it turn out to be a bad trip for me as I got seriously sick on the second day of the trip! The first day of the trip was better for me as I only had slight flu and cough. The first day was pretty bad though in terms of fishing and I landed the few coral trouts of the group while I had a good Spanish Mack that got off the hook after a breathtaking first burst! It took a 40g Jackson Pintail. Taken on Asari 60g Inchiku via bottom horizontal bouncing Taken on Agoo 30g Terence though was not so lucky as his 120g Popper was bitten away by the Spanish Mack. It even gave him a good jump with the Popper in the mouth before swimming away hehehe.... And to think that Terence was popping for GT! The first day of the trip also saw the HOOKED team...
