I'm still waiting for my Sibu trip pictures so it'll be awhile before i post the report. It's 700 photos to sort! Anyway, i was not celebrating the Chinese lunar new year extensively this year so we did a mini gathering of sorts at Pasir Ris Pro Fishing Pond Pole Rod Pond. It was alan, me, momok and AG. We're there to catch our first fishes of the new year. Like they say... Out with the old... In with the new! It's our second trip to the pole rod pond and now we have the secret technique of getting the fish there so we are quite confident. It took Momok only a few minutes to land his first Golden Pomfret of the day. I was fighting another one when the fella beside me hooked onto my line and jerked... I lost the first fish! But Alan was onto one too and very soon, we were getting quite alot of bites after the worker released some fishes. I even managed to get a barra without bait! It's our first boat trip for 2011 and to be frank, I didn't expect much due to the spring current. For spring current, usually what you aim for is the size. The fishes are usually ack, grouper or chermin if the weather is sunny. True enough, it was a bad catch but Jamie got his first wild saltwater fish and the biggest of the trip. It's a trip with many bites in the morning as we went to a new spot in search of the wild golden snapper. We drifted around and got many small hits. It was quite fun casting out and slowly spinning for them. Sometimes, I think ah chong has to have a change of thinking. Yes, fishing beside breakwater with baits usually get you arumugam and small fish but sometimes its good to try other methods if the usual way is not working. I'm getting sick of the small fishes at Changi so nowadays I just use it as a trip to relax and have fun. Hopefully the next trip is better... Back from a 2d1n trip at Sibu with some friends. Been there and survived! Will try to do the cr soon.... laptop is going to crash soon... im seeing 6 screens sometimes...

Another trip was made to Farmway 3 after the New Year Trip... This time with Halley on board. I was going to let my light tackle get some feel of fish again so I brought along a Shimano Bassrise 4-8lbs paired with a cheap yellow reel (can't forget brand) with 6lbs powerpro braided line. It was fun using the bass rise but I almost couldn't set in the hook when the fish took the bait. When the fish came close, the lifting power of the rod was good and I could control the fish. A short video on the fight It was a slow day and we only managed a few fishes. Momok managed his first freshwater stingray though... a Motoro Ray... Congrats!

Here's a CR that is a little outdated but still brings back fond memories. Momok and me went to Farmway 3 to get our first fishes for the New Year. Momok and me had a Barra while AG had a Patin. We were grateful that day as the fish were biting fast and hard. It was raining the whole day but it still was a pretty crowded place! Also on this trip Momok landed a Motoro Ray and I landed a Sultan Fish. I'll skip right to the photos...
