D Kranji Farm Resort

Here's a new place i found for prawning in Singapore and pole fishing for patin. I have not been there before but i heard the place has nice ambience and the pole fishing for patin is only at $4 per try. It's cheaper compared to those found at Jurong Birdpark, Punggol Riverside and Geylang Badminton hall prawning. Give it a go!

They have beer garden, restaurant, conference room and even villas to stay in!

Visit their site for more information!

Post Exam Fishing! Beautiful Toman!

It seems that i can use my photobucket again... Yesterday was the end of my exams for this semester... I thought to myself "What better way to celebrate than to go fishing?"

I was right! The water levels were very low but i still managed to get a hit from this beauty... Once it brought the pencil down under the water, i set it at least 5 times as you know Toman(Snakehead) have very armoured head and tough jaws. This 13lb big baby took to the banana trees but i was not going to let it go there!

A beautiful warrior released to fight another day...

Rod used was my 4 years old Shimano Bassterra and reel was Ryobi Artica 3000 with tuff line...

Later on, we got ourselves lots of peacock bass... we landed at least 10pcs on flies as they started to move in... It's a good day!

Frogging At An Old Spot...

After a bout of good sunny weather, i felt it was good to visit my old spot. Yup i was right, when we reached the place, it was very happening. There are many boofs and fishes making splashes when we arrived. There seems to be a big school of Peacock Bass too. I got a fish on the first few cast... A juvenile...

And then, i had this HUGE take by a Toman(snakehead) that took the scumfrog just below me when i was about to reel it in for another cast. Needless to say, the huge take splashed me withs some water! The fish was no longer taking the frogs anymore... so i changed to what i call a "spiderman" pencil lure. I personally designed it myself and had it spray painted and also drawn on with paint market. It's one of my favourite lure.

I got a good sized peacock bass on it...

Next up was casting small spoons to a giant school of small peacock bass... It was fun ... every cast 1 hook up hahaha but never take any pictures as it's small around 300g...

Had a good take when this Toman decided to take my lure the moment it hit the spot beside the weeds. Boooom!
Photobucket

It's very exciting when fishes are so aggresive and take lures with such force.... Good conditions so we head back in the afternoon after the rain...

rain!
Photobucket

After the rain was bad... but Shawn here landed an earth eater! A rare catch and a good one.

It's great being outdoors and fishing... Keeps the blood in you going warm and strong... better than the couch anytime...

Till the next time we visit this spot!

Fishchaser Island Adventure Part 2: FISHING!

Hmmm this post is a little long and I'm using blogger's image host as photobucket seems to have conveniently made their site very inconvenient for me and even though i updated my java and firefox, it seems that i can't upload anything lol...

After the jokes and fun of the previous post, time to get down to the fishy business!

We were thinking of GTs, Macks and the like which can be found easily at the jetty. A few months back, i encountered a school of big GTs in the range of 7 - 10kg including some black ones.

But the weather sucked totally and we couldn't cast our lures properly! The wind was so strong that sometimes it made you sway backward! The water was very choppy and it was bad for fishing. Nevertheless, i had a big miss by what seemed like a Cobia on Duel Live bait minnow jig.

The wind proved to be too strong and we settle down after lunch while we waited for the tide to come up. When the tide came up, some of us went for the offshore fishing which was in the package. We didn't expect much from the offshore as their spots are more catered for baiters...

But the guys went anyway and they did well considering the windy conditions!

Jamie, the luck sucker... again with 2 pcs of Coral trout which was going to be our dinner!

After dinner, we had a try at eging. The next timing for offshore will be in the morning as the winds are very strong at night. Eging was fun when the tide was going out. There are a few ah lau with sinking method that landed many squid in a short time. Our side also landed a few squid but before we could sashimi them we all fell asleep!

Why is it called a green eye squid? Here's why!

Yup... they have very good size big eye at the jetty too

Oh yes, we got something that we came for. Jarret took out a popper and just cast out hoping for something who knows a small GT came to take his popper. After that another GT was landed by Jamie but after that the school went off... Pictures not with me so i have no evidence!

Anyways, next timing was morning. Morning offshore was kinda half hearted but at the first spot Jamie got his metal jig cut off by a spanish mack... minutes later what do you know Alan got a hit and up came a nice mack... after that no more macks and we jigged baitfish for later use.

Some GT Popping at potential spots... Somehow i felt that the tide was a little wrong for these spots. It was almost low tide hahaha. No current flow etc. Well, at least we visited a few nice spots.

Aseng got a nice baby queen on metal jig. He missed a GT... oops...

Well that's all for the fishing.... Here's some pictures on the scenery and food...

Food and BBQ

I can just smell this...

Fishchaser Island Adventure Part 1

Haha guys in this post you will finally be able to see what monster fish Jamie has caught. Follow the captions lol it's quite funny... Part 2 will be up next which will be more on the fishing!

Some pictures on the surroundings first!!!

A storm was brewing but Jamie was as hardworking as ever casting his lure...

Jamie felt that something was not right. He had the feeling that a big fish was nearby!

There was it! Jamie spotted an orange belly shark grazing on coral!

Jamie casted at it hoping to agitate it.

Bingo! The orange bellied shark took the lure immediately as it was near her babies...

Jamie gave a good strike!

The fish was putting up a strong fight and gave acrobatic leaps!

But after awhile, the fish bust the line and stood there laughing at Jamie. A dejected Jamie walked away...
