Southern Island Fishing with Ah Eng (launch from Jalan Buroh)

Well this boat trip came about because me and Weiyee wanted to try Ricky a.k.a Ah Eng again so we finally got a sunday booking with him with the help of one of our kaki. This trip i had many old friends on the trip. It was nice to see them again after such a long time.

The place for boarding was at Buroh Lane near the Pig Slaugther house. The first joke of the day came when we told Sim that the place was near the slaughther house. When we reach we cannot find him and ask where he was. He said he was inside the slaughther house!!! Hahahaha!

Anyway, we went to board the boat by the small boat and wow it was a damn big boat. There was only 7 of us and we had lots of room to fish. Boatman warn us if the wind keep up there will be a bad catch but no choice we are already here so just chiong ah...

When we emerge from the river, wow the wind was really super strong here and we can see white caps. It was a bumpy ride man.

Rest of the day was spent drifting but not a single fish as i believe the water was very cold even my sinker came up it was warm. But then i got my first ever cloudy grouper but too bad i could not release it. The fella went inside the rocks and i pumped it up too fast that when it came up it was already dead. Wakakkaaka!

Although there is no fish, at least i saw some very old friends again.

What is the difference between the Kurau (Indian Threadfin) and Senangin (Blue Threadfin Salmon)?

Name and Terminology Kurau is known as Indian Giant Threadfin salmon/Kurau/黑午鱼/Orh Ngor Senangin is known as Blue Threadfin salmon/Senangin/白午鱼/Pek Ngor/Ngor Soon Eating Quality Kurau is known the more premium species and is a popular fish for maternity purposes as it is believed to boost milk supply for new mothers. In case you all don't know yet, a new prawning pond has opened at 10 Neo Tiew Lane 2! Called Olden Days Prawning, the prawning pond is opened daily and 24 hours. What was the most surprising for me is their current price for prawning. They are doing it at 1 hour - $9.99, 2 hours - $15.99 and 3 hours - $19.99. It's never easy for angler-couples with kids to go fishing. You bring the kid along, it doesn't really feel like quality fishing together. Marina South Singapore Fishing Spot (Eging and Shore Jigging Recce)

Marina South has always been a favourite fishing spot in Singapore. In the past, we would go settle our dinner at the Marina South buffet steamboat and then head off to the water breakers to crank deep diver lures. In fact, I remember a memory of having my popper being taxed from me one of those times we went luring there! Another fairly famous fishing spot were the freshwater ponds just next to the saltwater side. Quite a fair bit of haruan (snakehead) and tarpon in there! Ok back to the topic. I finally had time to go for a full recce of the Marina South fishing areas. It's quite amazing that there are no restrictions for fishing almost the entire Marina South coast and it makes shore casting, eging, ajing and microjigging so much more fun.
